The system-wide, long-lasting social and political crisis in Ukraine offers eloquent and persuasive proof that our country lacks politicians, statesmen and administrators with a concern for the state and a sense of responsibility for the life and well-being of citizens, society and the state in general. In order to correct this situation and make effective changes that would radically improve the life of every Ukrainian, we need a new generation of young leaders, with a new worldview, a new ethics and professionalism, a new attitude and approach to organizing the life of society, and, most importantly, a clear awareness of their personal responsibility for the further development of their country.
To facilitate this process, we need to unite and coordinate the activity of everyone who cares about the future of our country. This is the key objective of the new national social project for young people called
The Forum of Young Ukrainian Leaders. The rapid developments of recent years prove that Ukraine’s young people care about the future of their country. We were born in this country, we live, study and work here, and it is up to us to define the kind of life Ukraine will have tomorrow and the kind of state our children will live in.
We live in a wonderful country of unrealized opportunities, and our task is to help fully realize those opportunities for our own benefit. I cannot, and will not, be a passive observer of the events happening in this country. This is why I am constantly searching for ways to make Ukraine a better place for all its citizens to live in. I am sure that there are millions of others who feel the same way, but we are separated. So let’s unite – and succeed!
Together we can change our country for the better.
With confidence in our success,
Igor SHEVCHENKO
Founder of The Forum of Young Ukrainian Leaders
